The Lagodekhi National Reserve is the oldest protected area in Georgia,
established in 1912, and one of the country’s most lovely corners. Tucked away
on the eastern border, this region of ancient forests, plunging waterfalls and
alpine valleys is a must see for all nature lovers, and with the national park
extending 3000 meters up the greater Caucasus, it’s a great place to discover
the mountains as well. There are unique hornbeam and beech broadleaf forests,
rare plants and abundant wild flowers. Lagodekhi Protected Areas and covers a
total area of Lagodekhi Strict Nature Reserve (19749 ha.) And Reserve (4702
ha.). The latter is related to the activities of education and recreation
infrastructure to advance the understanding of the nature of the optimal
conditions for the visitors.
Today the Lagodekhi Protected Areas Reserve
arranged picturesque, safe and informative five tourist itinerary, namely: ,,
Grouse Waterfall ", ,, ninoskhevis waterfall", ,, Machi ", ,,
Black Rock Lake" and "the nature of cognition trail" .Lagodekhi
protected Areas integrated into the main entrance of the administrative and
visitor complex. Administrative building designed exhibition and presentation
room, where visitors can get acquainted with the specifics of the Lagodekhi
Protected Areas, the existing tariffs, safety rules and choose here on tourist
routes to the desired, relevant service.
Flora: Mountain deciduous forests and alpine meadows.
Fauna: Caucasian goat, chamois, deer, roe deer, wild boar, bear, wolf, lynx, otter, marten, lammergeier, ulan, heath-cock, trout.
